Juvelook Korea:
The Science of
Collagen Stimulation
Juvelook is one of the more frequently asked-about treatments at Yaan Clinic. This page explains what it actually is, how the two active ingredients work differently, and what separates it from the skin boosters most people are already familiar with.
What Juvelook Is —
and What It Isn’t
Most patients who come in asking about Juvelook have already encountered the term “skin booster” and want to understand how Juvelook differs. The short answer: it does something conventional skin boosters don’t.
A standard HA skin booster injects hyaluronic acid into the dermis to attract moisture and soften fine surface lines. The effect is real but temporary — once the HA is reabsorbed, the improvement fades. Juvelook contains HA too, but it also contains PDLLA microspheres — a biodegradable compound that triggers fibroblasts to produce new collagen. The collagen response can persist after the PDLLA is absorbed — this is part of why results from biostimulators tend to last longer than standard HA skin boosters, though individual outcomes vary.
This is why Juvelook is classified as a biostimulator rather than a skin booster, and why its results develop over weeks rather than appearing immediately. The HA component produces an early glow; the collagen the PDLLA stimulates is what makes the result last.

How the Two Ingredients
Work on Different Timelines
Understanding why results develop over weeks — rather than appearing immediately — comes down to what each ingredient does and when.
Days 1–14
Hyaluronic acid binds water molecules in the dermis immediately after injection. Skin looks plumper and more luminous within 24–48 hours. This effect is real but temporary — the HA is gradually reabsorbed over several weeks.
Weeks 3–12
PDLLA microspheres activate fibroblasts — the cells responsible for collagen synthesis. New collagen fibers form progressively in the dermis. Pores refine, texture smooths, skin density improves. Effects build for up to 3 months after each session.
Clinical Finding
A 2023 study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology reported improvements in dermal collagen density with PDLLA-HA hybrid formulations compared to HA filler alone. Individual results vary depending on skin condition, age, and treatment protocol.
Fully Absorbed
Both HA and PDLLA are broken down and absorbed by the body over time. Both components are designed to be biodegradable and gradually absorbed by the body. The collagen response that develops during treatment tends to persist beyond the absorption period.
Approvals
Juvelook has received regulatory clearance in multiple markets including the US (FDA), Korea (KFDA), and Europe (CE). Approval status and formulations can vary by market — patients are encouraged to confirm current status with the clinic before treatment. At Yaan Clinic, every vial arrives with batch documentation from the manufacturer.

Juvelook vs Juvelook Volume:
Which Formulation?
Two formulations exist. The difference is particle size and injection depth — not potency. The choice is made after the pre-treatment 3D scan, not before the appointment.
| Factor | Juvelook | Juvelook Volume |
|---|---|---|
| PDLLA particle size | Smaller | Larger |
| Injection depth | Superficial dermis | Deep dermis |
| Primary effect | Pores, texture, glow | Volume, contour support |
| Best areas | Full face, under-eye | Cheeks, jawline, temples |
| Sessions | 3 × 1 month apart | 2–3 × 1 month apart |
| Duration | 12–18 months | 18–24 months |

Who It Works Well For —
and Where It Has Limits
Juvelook produces consistent results for a specific set of concerns. It has genuine limits too, and being clear about both is more useful than a list of benefits.
-
Works well for
Enlarged pores, uneven texture, dull or dehydrated skin, early fine lines, mild acne scarring. Also suits patients who’ve tried HA skin boosters and found the results didn’t last long enough.
-
Less suited for
Skin laxity, significant sagging, or structural volume loss. Juvelook improves skin quality — it does not lift. For laxity concerns, Oligio RF lifting or Ultherapy Prime typically produces better results. Some patients benefit from combining both — see the Juvelook vs Oligio comparison →
The Treatment at Yaan Clinic:
What Actually Happens
A first-session appointment runs roughly 90 minutes. The injection itself takes 30–45 minutes. The preparation beforehand takes longer than the treatment.
3D MetaView Skin Analysis
Full-face scan measuring dermal elasticity, thickness, and hydration. Takes about 10 minutes. Results shown to patient on screen before the doctor proposes a plan. Vial count and formulation confirmed from data — not pre-decided.
Consultation and Cost Confirmation
Doctor reviews scan data, proposes the session plan, states the final price. No additional charges after this point. English-speaking coordinator present throughout.
Topical Anesthetic — 20–30 Minutes
Numbing cream applied and left to take effect. Most patients describe waiting for the numbing cream as the most uncomfortable part of the appointment.
Injection and Aftercare
PDLLA-HA injected using a fine needle. Mild redness and swelling resolve within 48 hours. Before and after photos taken at every session. Written aftercare in English. WhatsApp line stays open for follow-up questions.

Frequently Asked
Questions
- What is Juvelook and how does it work?
- Juvelook combines PDLLA microspheres with Hyaluronic Acid. The HA provides immediate hydration and a visible glow within 24–48 hours. The PDLLA stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen over 4–12 weeks — results build progressively and peak around weeks 8–12 after the final session of a 3-session course.
- What ingredients are in Juvelook?
- Two active components: Hyaluronic Acid (HA) and Poly-D,L-Lactic Acid (PDLLA). Both are biodegradable and fully absorbed by the body. The PDLLA is reformulated into ultrafine microspheres for dermal injection. No permanent residue remains after absorption.
- What is Juvelook’s regulatory status?
- Juvelook has received regulatory clearance in multiple markets including the US (FDA), Korea (KFDA), and Europe (CE). Approval status can vary by market and formulation. Patients are encouraged to confirm current status with the clinic — at Yaan Clinic, batch documentation is available on request.
- How long does Juvelook downtime last?
- For most patients, redness and mild swelling resolve within a day or two. Bruising is possible, particularly in the under-eye area, and may take a few days to fade. Makeup can generally be applied the following day — the clinic’s aftercare guidelines will cover specifics based on the treated areas.
- What is the difference between Juvelook and Juvelook Volume?
- Standard Juvelook uses smaller particles for superficial injection — typically suited for pore refinement and texture improvement. Juvelook Volume uses larger particles for deeper injection, which may provide more volumizing effect in areas like the cheeks and jawline. The appropriate formulation is assessed during consultation and skin analysis.
